Technology is one path to improved quality, reduced cost, and faster time to market. Innovation is another route, one that can also create new products, services, and markets.

Walman Optical was innovating back when they called it ingenuity. Today, we have numerous patents, a staff of industry luminaries, breakthrough Internet applications, and a long list of firsts. In fact, manufacturers frequently consult with us to help develop new products.

One example of innovation is the way we changed the fitting process for RGP lenses. The archaic trial-and-error method uses cumbersome lens kits, with an end-result that is approximate at best. In response, we developed a handheld computing device that is empirically accurate - improving patient fit, visual acuity, and satisfaction.

Here's another example. We were the first frame wholesaler to streamline the distribution process. This enhanced process has resulted in better information on back orders, a faster average fill rate, and fewer errors.
