Kids With A Vision

In 2019, Walman Optical and the Essilor Vision Foundation piloted Kids With a Vision: a co-venture campaign with a simple premise: for every qualifying pair of eyewear purchased by participating practices, a donation would be made to help a child in need receive a pair of glasses.

It is estimated that one in four children in the United States has a vision issue significant enough to affect their ability to learn. Vision impacts every aspect of a child’s life, from learning, confidence and social interaction to participation in activities such as sports, art and music. The funds raised through Kids with a Vision will help EVF provide vision care for children in underserved communities around the country who otherwise would not receive crucial vision exams and glasses.

The pilot year of the campaign was a success, helping to provide eyewear to over 12,000 kids in need on behalf of our partner practices. In 2020, Walman Optical and EVF are expanding Kids With a Vision with select practices nationally. For every pair of digitally surfaced lenses treated with non-glare treatment produced by Walman Optical labs purchased by participating eye care professionals through December 31, 2020, Walman Optical will donate $5.00 to EVF.* These Kids With a Vision donations benefit children like Khloe, the recipient of EVF’s one millionth eyewear donation last year.

Kids With a Vision offers the unique opportunity to participating practices, like Spring Hill Eyecare in TN, to share the campaign message with their own patients, promoting the importance of childhood eye health in their communities and encouraging patients to purchase their eyewear through their independent eyecare provider in order to generate a donation.

Children rely on eye care professionals, parents, teachers and communities to be advocates for their vision care. Together, Essilor Vision Foundation and Walman Optical are providing vision services and enabling children to reach their full potential by giving them the ability to see clearly.
